CHICAGO – Community members will learn about fair housing protections and other items related to safe, affordable housing at a fair housing town hall hosted by state Rep. Curtis J. Tarver II, D-Chicago, on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the South Side YMCA, located at S. Stony Island Ave. in Chicago. Tarver will be joined by state Rep. Kam Buckner, D-Chicago and presenters from the Illinois Human Rights Commission and the Illinois Department of Human Rights to help residents understand their rights.

“Understanding what protections exist when finding a place to live can be a challenging process to navigate, and I want community members to know what tools they have at their disposal if they are having their rights threatened,” said Tarver. “People have a right to fair, affordable and accessible housing, no matter what, and I am working in Springfield to ensure that this right is protected. Meanwhile, I encourage all residents to attend this informative event.”
