CHICAGO – State Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, is partnering with the Chicago Jobs Council, Citizens Utility Board and other organizations to host a forum on the future of renewable energy in Illinois and potential job opportunities.

“We must take steps to address the effects of climate change, and working toward a more sustainable future in clean and renewable energy is critical to ensuring a healthier environment for our families,” said Slaughter. “Transitioning to clean energy will not only protect our planet, but also create new job opportunities for residents across Illinois. This event will help provide members of our community with important information on new jobs that will be created as we progress toward a greener future.”

Slaughter’s conversation on clean energy will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. until noon at his district office, located at 1234 W. 95th St. in Chicago. Representatives from clean energy companies such as Elevate Energy and Sustainable Options for Urban Living (SOUL) will join the Chicago Jobs Council, Citizens Utility Board and Slaughter to discuss the Clean Energy Jobs Act and the economic impact of transitioning to clean energy. This event is free and open to the public.

“As our society moves toward a future in clean energy, it is essential that the residents of our community play a part in this transition,” said Slaughter. “We must do all that we can to make sure that our community has access to these high-paying jobs of tomorrow.”
