CHICAGO – To advocate for equitable housing, state Rep. Kam Buckner, D-Chicago, is co-leading a Fair Housing Town Hall with state Rep. Curtis Tarver, D-Chicago. The town hall, facilitated through the Illinois Human Rights Commission and the Illinois Department of Human Rights, will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the South Side YMCA, located at 6330 S. Stony Island Ave.

“Everyone deserves a place to call home at a price they can reasonably afford,” Buckner said. “To build a stronger Illinois, we need to make sure hard-working residents know their rights and can easily obtain affordable, quality housing.”

Buckner’s event aims to address a variety of topics and issues regarding fair housing protections. Guests who attend will learn more about Illinois’ Fair Housing protections, the process of a fair housing investigation, and recent policy changes to the Illinois Human Rights Act. For more information or to RSVP, please call Buckner’s district office at 773-924-1755 or email Buckner@Illinois26.com.
