SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – For her work of being a strong advocate for youth across Illinois, state Rep. Karina Villa, D-West Chicago, was recently appointed as a member of the Youth Budget Commission by Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
“With my combined experience as a school social worker and a legislator, I will bring a unique perspective to the Youth Budget Commission, an organization that helps to determine how state agencies can improve and expand programs for children and adolescents,” said Villa. “I will continue standing up for Illinois youth and fighting to ensure that our state invests in services and programs that will help our youth flourish.”
Villa was recently selected to serve on the Youth Budget Commission. The commission is comprised of 15 members appointed by the governor to create an annual fiscal scan to advise the General Assembly and state agencies on ways to improve and expand existing policies, services, programs and opportunities for youth across the state.
“Our children and young adults deserve investment because they are the future leaders of our community, state and country,” continued Villa. “I look forward to using my experience with youth to help shape meaningful policies and ensure investment into critical programs that will foster growth for our children.”
