BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. – In preparation for the winter season, state Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, is highlighting the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which offers financial assistance to help cover utility services for families in need.
“In light of current weather trends, I wanted to take the time to highlight this vital program for residents who may need their services,” Pappas said. “No one deserves to be forced to choose between keeping food on the table and keeping their heat on. The LIHEAP program has offered a lifeline to local residents throughout the state to help them get through the tough winter season.”
Pappas is encouraging district residents to look into the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which offers assistance to families by helping subsidize their winter heating bills in Illinois. The 2019 – 2020 application period is currently open, and applications are being accepted until funding is exhausted.
For any residents interested in learning more, please visit LIHEAPIllinois.com or call the state’s toll-free LIHEAP hotline at 877-411-WARM (877-411-9276) for information on income eligibility and how to apply for assistance.
“I strongly encourage all Illinois residents to utilize these cost-relieving and potentially life-saving services by applying for LIHEAP,” Pappas said. “The hard-working folks in my community have enough stress to deal with – not knowing whether they can afford their utility services should not be one of them.”
