LOMBARD, Ill. – In partnership with VFW Lilac Post 5815, state Rep. Terra Costa Howard, D-Glen Ellyn, is asking residents to donate toiletries, candy, and other personal items for holiday packages to send to military men and women serving overseas.

“Since starting our ‘Boxes for Troops’ donation drive just a few weeks ago, I have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown by members of our community,” said Costa Howard. “These gift items will bring some holiday joy to the brave men and women in uniform who are serving our country, far from their own homes.”

Costa Howard is asking for donations of travel-sized toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and razors), Halloween candy, nonperishable snacks (beef jerky, pepperoni, trail mix, and salami), and crossword and word search puzzle books.

Her office will accept donations from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at her constituent services office, at 913 S. Main St. in Lombard. Residents may contact her to arrange an alternate donation time by calling 630-812-9292 or emailing RepTCH48@gmail.com. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 1.

“I have so much respect for our servicemembers and for the many sacrifices that they make,” said Costa Howard. “Every year, the members of Lilac Post 5815 and its Auxiliary set a great example for our community by collecting these gifts and sending them to servicemembers who are stationed overseas. I’m proud to partner with them in this patriotic effort, and I hope the people of the 48th District will continue to donate generously.”
