ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, released the following statement in response to the announcement that the teachers of School District 46 will be going on strike:

“A teacher strike is an unfortunate situation for all involved. During my time in the General Assembly, I have fought to make sure that middle-class workers are compensated fairly for their hard-work. Teachers are some of the most dedicated and important professionals in our community, which is why I voted to increase the minimum wage for teachers.

“The number one priority now must be for quick negotiations that are fair to both sides. I am hopeful that a compromise can be reached that is a win for everyone and that students can get back to class as quickly as possible. I am committed to doing whatever I can to help find a solution to this impasse and getting everyone back to being able to focus on the most important thing: providing a quality education for our students.”
