AURORA, Ill. – Continuing her advocacy for environmental stewardship, state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, is inviting residents to her Clean Energy Town Hall alongside state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, and state Sen. Linda Holmes, D-Aurora on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Prisco Community Center, located at 150 W. Illinois Ave. in Aurora.

“Every day we hear about the progression that climate change has made, as well as the consequences that it has had on communities, and the time to act is now,” said Hernandez. “I am eager to continue the conversation regarding climate change right here in my district alongside my colleagues, to ensure that we are doing everything we can to address this crisis.”

Hernandez, Kifowit, and Holmes will discuss their legislative agendas in regards to climate change and the environment, including their support for the Clean Energy Jobs Act, which aims to ultimately move Illinois to 100% renewable energy, while simultaneously creating hundreds of energy-related jobs. The panel will also consist of members of the Illinois Environmental Council, the Citizens Utility Board, the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition, and the Illinois Chapter Sierra Club. Attendees can learn more about saving money on their utility bills and solar energy options for homeowners. This event is free and open to the public.

“IEC is excited to partner with environmental champions Representatives Hernandez, Kifowit, and Senator Holmes to host a discussion about clean energy in Illinois,” said Colleen Smith, IEC’s Legislative Director. “This event marks one of nearly one hundred held throughout the state over the past 18 months with communities in support of the Clean Energy Jobs Act.”
