DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is highlighting recently announced Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) projects that will impact the local area and region.

“In our communities, we have a dire need to rebuild our infrastructure that is aging,” Moylan said. “I’m excited to announce that IDOT will be working on many projects in our area to address deteriorating roads and intersections and deliver needed repairs to our infrastructure.”

IDOT recently released their Rebuild Illinois Highway Improvement Program, which will include extensive work in and around Moylan’s 55th district. Over the next five years, IDOT plans to rebuild, repair and renovate over 37 miles worth of state highways in Moylan’s district. In particular, the transportation agency has scheduled work with Touhy Ave. in Park Ridge for next year. The overall plan will see over $107 million invested in the 55th District.

“Our roads are in dire need of these repairs,” Moylan said. “Take Touhy for example, people’s houses are crumbling because we haven’t kept up with our infrastructure for years. I’m glad to see IDOT prioritize this work in the coming months and years.”
