CHICAGO – In recognition of her work to promote a clean and renewable energy future for Illinois, state Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, D-Chicago, recently attended the 2019 dinner of the Illinois Environmental Council (IEC).

“I was proud to attend the Illinois Environmental Council’s annual dinner to recognize the work of so many legislators and community activists across Illinois who work to create a cleaner environment for all,” Lilly said. “The environmental protection movement is one of our the best examples of grassroots action creating positive change and can take so many forms from conservation of natural resources and ensuring our air and water are free of toxic pollutants to promoting cleaner and more efficient energy use.”

Lilly is a longtime environmental champion and has previously received recognition from the IEC for her pro-environment voting record, which includes supporting measures to increase development of renewable energy projects and improve water quality. Lilly also helped create the state’s Environmental Justice Commission, to help ensure that no person or community disproportionally faces the consequences of environmental pollution due to their age, income, national origin or race.
