ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Continuing his efforts to connect with important community groups in his district, state Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, recently vistited the Xilin Community Center in Arlington Heights, an Asian community center committed to serving the needs of families in the greater Chicago area.
“I’m truly proud to represent diverse and vibrant communities in our area,” Walker said. “The Xilin Association does great work caring for those in our community, especially our senior residents. It was a pleasure meeting with their Executive Director Linda Yang and all the staff putting on some exceptional programming for our residents.”
Arlington Heights’ Xilin Community Center is part of a wider network in the Xilin Association of vibrant, diverse and multicultural community centers across the Chicagoland region. The Community Center provides an innovative educational system for children, an adult day care program for seniors and cross-cultural community events and activities for all individuals.
“From after school programs for kids to their art academy, in-home visits for seniors and wide-ranging community health programs, it’s truly impressive what Xilin does for our residents,” Walker said. “Many of our immigrant communities face unique situations at every stage of their lives. Groups like the Xilin Association and their community center are important community organizations and partners as we continue to work to build a stronger Illinois for all.”
