ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – Continuing his efforts to engage with members of the community, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, visited Big Hollow Middle School in Ingleside for their Junior Achievement Day. Yingling spoke to groups of 5th and 7th graders about his responsibilities as a state representative, and had the students write down what new laws they would like to see in Illinois. Yingling highlighted his work on environmental issues and Tobacco 21 as examples of ways that youth getting involved in government has created positive changes.

“No one is ever too young to get involved and improve their community,” Yingling said. “I had a great time meeting with so many students and hearing their ideas about what they would like to see from their state going forward. The work that we do in Springfield is aimed at making the world that they will inherit a better place, so getting their input and hearing their ideas about what they would like to see is extremely helpful for me to be an effective legislator. I want to thank all the students who engaged with me, and hope that they continue to work to make the changes they want to see in their communities and world.”
