BERWYN, Ill. – State Rep. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez, D-Cicero, is working with community-based organizations to host a free Naturalization & DACA Renewal Workshop on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Morton West High School, located at 2400 Home Ave. in Berwyn.

“With all the uncertainty and hatred being spewed by Donald Trump, it is critical that immigrant families are informed about the naturalization process and how to renew their DACA status,” Hernandez said. “I strongly encourage local families to join us for this critical workshop, so they can have more certainty and peace of mind by beginning the process of becoming a naturalized citizen.”

Hernandez is working with PASO-West Suburban Action Project and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights to provide immigration services and information and to local families. Families interested in starting the naturalization process should bring the permanent residency card, social security number, state ID and other relevant documents. Information about applying to renew someone’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status will also be provided. For more information, please call Rep. Hernandez’s full-time constituent service office at 708-222-5240.
