SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – For his continuous work to pass a capital infrastructure plan and bring improvements to the Metro East, state Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Swansea, was recently appointed to the Legislative Advisory Committee for the Southwestern Illinois Regional Planning Commission.
“Addressing our state’s declining infrastructure has been a top priority of mine as state Representative,” said Hoffman. “I look forward to using my expertise on the state’s infrastructure plan to take a hands on approach in implementing new projects to improve the state of our local roads, bridges, schools and other needs.”
Hoffman was a key negotiator in the development process for the capital improvement plan passed by the General Assembly this year, serving as the co-chair on Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Infrastructure Task Force.
The Southwestern Illinois Metropolitan and Regional Planning Commission provides planning, zoning, project development and technical assistance services for community and economic development, transportation and other areas. As a member of the Legislative Advisory Committee, Hoffman will work with local leaders to develop plans to address and implement local infrastructure improvement projects.
“The bipartisan capital plan that I worked to negotiate and pass was the first infrastructure investment bill in a decade, designating significant resources to make desperately needed improvements and repairs to infrastructure in our state,” continued Hoffman. “As a voice on the Legislative Advisory Committee, I will help ensure that these plans come to fruition on local projects.”
