ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, hosted his annual Community Shred Day with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) and the Village of Round Lake Park on Saturday. This annual shred day provided residents with the opportunity to safely dispose of their sensitive documents for free.
“Shred days are one of my favorite events of the year,” said Yingling. “I’m glad I was able to partner with SWALCO to provide this service for my community.”

Residents were encouraged to bring any documents that contain personal information, such as medical bills or bank statements, to the shred day. The documents were shredded and disposed of on-site to ensure that all personal information was safely destroyed.

“While Illinois ranks seventh in the country for overall identity theft, I’m hosting events like these to help drive that number down,” Yingling said. “Preventing others from gathering your sensitive information can put a stop to many issues, and I am happy to provide a way for my community to avoid such situations.”
