CHICAGO – Seeking local assistance in her state district office, state Rep. Lindsey LaPointe, D-Chicago, is inviting high school students in the community to apply for her fall internship program.
“There is so much to learn in Illinois’ state government, and I want to provide insight for students on how their government can work for them,” said LaPointe. “Illinois is beginning to pick up its fair share of school funding, but that is not the only thing our state does. My internship will offer students the chance to get involved locally and help them understand the importance of civic engagement.”
LaPointe is seeking interns to assist with her office’s outreach to area residents. This includes door-to-door contact with constituents, policy research, event planning and constituent services across the district. Interested applicants should send their résumé to LaPointe’s district office manager, Jessica Genova, at RepLaPointe@gmail.com.
“This is a great way to develop skills with state agencies, constituent responses and to learn how government can positively impact families across the state,” said LaPointe. “I look forward to working with new student interns in my office.”
LaPointe represents the 19th District, which covers portions of Chicago’s Big Oaks, Dunning, Gladstone Park, Jefferson Park, Portage Park, Union Ridge and West Portage Park neighborhoods, and River Grove, Elmwood Park, Norridge and Harwood Heights.
