CHICAGO – State Rep. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez, D-Cicero, released the following statement in solidarity with the University of Chicago Medical Center nurses on strike this Friday:
“As a strong supporter of organized labor, I stand in support of the efforts of National Nurses United. Workers deserve the right to collectively bargain for better work conditions and it is unacceptable that our nurses were denied the opportunity to negotiate fairly.
“As the mother of a nurse, I personally understand the hardships our nurses face each and every day. And that’s why I’m supporting legislation to make sure our nurses are able to provide our most vulnerable citizens the quality care they deserve.”
