CHICAGO – State Rep. Lindsey LaPointe, D-Chicago, is encouraging Chicago residents to apply for the city’s Roof & Porch Repair Program that can help families fix outdated roofs and porches.

“Many homeowners need help repairing their houses, and this annual program is one great way to get assistance,” said LaPointe. “Income-eligible residents will be able to register and apply for the lottery, but homeowners must register first.”

LaPointe is highlighting the City of Chicago’s 2020 Roof & Repair Program that can help local homeowners repair parts of their houses. Residents seeking financial assistance must register in a lottery to apply for funds later on. To register, visit www.chicago.gov.roofandporch or call 311 for more information, but the lottery registration will occur on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In October, the final drawing will take place at 78 E. Washington St., Chicago.

“This is a chance to update fixtures on homes that need some sort of maintenance,” LaPointe said. “Applying for this program will help homeowners across Chicago access financial assistance they need to fix their roofs and porches.”

LaPointe represents the 19th District, which covers portions of Chicago’s Big Oaks, Dunning, Gladstone Park, Jefferson Park, Portage Park, Union Ridge and West Portage Park neighborhoods, and River Grove, Elmwood Park, Norridge and Harwood Heights.
