GURNEE, Ill. – State Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, met with longtime business owners Dan Lucy, Dave Lucy and Rita Lucy at Lucy’s Appliances in Zion on Wednesday. Lucy’s Appliances was first opened in 1935 by Delbert Lucy and his son Marion Lucy as a general feed store. 85 years later, the Lucy family business has grown to be one of the largest single appliance stores in the state.

“There are many unseen challenges that accompany business ownership. Getting feedback directly from owners is one way I am working to understand those challenges and develop a legislative agenda that addresses the needs of our local economy,” said Mason. “I’d like to thank Dan, Dave and Rita for welcoming me to their business, and for their willingness to have a candid discussion with me about our state and community.”

Mason is using her time away from Springfield to connect with locally-owned businesses in her community, with visits to Kroll’s Farm and Zion Cyclery scheduled for October.
