GURNEE, Ill. – Community members joined state Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, for an open conversation on state and local issues at He Brews Coffee Shop in Winthrop Harbor on Saturday.

“Too often, there is a disconnect between elected officials and the communities they serve. Sitting down and having candid discussions with residents on a regular basis is one of many ways I’m staying connected to my community and tuned-in to our residents’ needs,” said Mason. “I am grateful to the community members who took time out of their Saturday to have a dialogue about important issues with me. Our community is full of passionate residents committed to bettering their state and community and I am beyond fortunate to be able to meet so many of them.”

Mason’s event at He Brews Coffee Shop featured discussion on a variety of topics, including strengthening the middle class, expanding health care and bettering public education.
