GURNEE, Ill. – In an effort to recognize the achievements of locally-owned businesses in her community, state Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, visited Black Cat Stitchery in Winthrop Harbor on Wednesday.

“As a state representative, I want to do everything I can to understand the challenges of operating a small business in our community,” said Mason. “I’m grateful to the business owners who have been willing to share their experiences with me, and I look forward to using what I’ve learned from this discussion to develop a better understanding of the work that needs to be done in Springfield.”

Mason’s trip to Black Cat Stitchery is part of a series of business visits around the district aimed at giving recognition to locally-owned businesses and creating an open dialogue about business ownership in Illinois.
