LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. – To gather feedback from the law enforcement community and continue her efforts to work with first responders keep our communities safe, state Rep. Mary Edly-Allen, D-Libertyville, recently held a roundtable discussion with local police chiefs.
“Being able to have a discussion with first responders who are out in the field every day is imperative to making sure we pass legislation that best helps them protect our communities,” said Edly-Allen. “By having these conversations we are able to open the lines of communication and learn from each other on how we can better our communities. I look forward to hosting regular meetings with law enforcement.”
Representatives from the Vernon Hills, Wauconda, Buffalo Grove, Mundelein, and Libertyville police departments as well as Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg attended the roundtable discussion, which included conversations on new state laws enhancing penalties for texting and driving violations and mental health resources for first responders.
