LOMBARD, Ill. – In recognition of her continued efforts to find property tax relief for DuPage County homeowners, state Rep. Terra Costa Howard, D-Glen Ellyn, was recently appointed to the Property Tax Relief Task Force.

“Through my role on the Property Tax Relief Task Force, I will work to find creative solutions to reduce the unfair property tax burden on DuPage County homeowners,” said Costa Howard. “Skyrocketing property taxes put too much pressure on homeowners across our community and the state of Illinois. It is clear that more must be done to offer real property tax relief while protecting education, public safety, and other critical resources Illinoisans care about.”

During her first legislative session in Springfield, Costa Howard sponsored Senate Bill 39, to create a property tax relief rebate for homeowners, and supported Senate Bill 1932, which created the Property Tax Relief Task Force. The task force will identify specific policy changes, with recommendations for necessary legislative and administrative changes, which create short and long-term property tax relief for homeowners.

“Alleviating the terrible property tax burden felt by area homeowners is one of my top priorities as state Representative,” continued Costa Howard. “As a member of the Property Tax Relief Task Force, I look forward to fighting for real relief and reforms that Illinois families need and deserve.”
