GURNEE, Ill. – Continuing her work to enact property tax relief for middle-class homeowners, state Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, will serve on the Illinois Property Tax Relief Task Force to help develop new policies to lower property taxes.
“When I walk door to door to talk to local residents, one of the top concerns I hear is the burden of high property taxes that continue to increase each year,” Mason said. “We must provide homeowners in our community with real relief while ensuring that resources such as education and public safety are still funded.”
Since entering the General Assembly earlier this year, Mason has been a champion of property tax relief. Mason backed Senate Bill 39 to create a property tax rebate for homeowners and supported additional measures to expand access to exemptions for seniors, veterans and all other homeowners. Mason co-sponsored Senate Bill 1932 to create the Property Tax Relief Task Force, which aims to develop comprehensive solutions to provide short and long-term property tax relief to homeowners in Illinois.
“As a member of the Property Tax Relief Task Force, I will continue fighting for real solutions that provide real relief to the hard-working homeowners in our community,” Mason said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to establish meaningful reforms that ease the burden on working and middle-class families.”
