AURORA, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, hosted a property tax appeal seminar with Kane County Assessor Mark Armstrong and Aurora Township Assessor Davis Offutt on Tuesday. Deputies from the Assessors officer were on site to look over individual bills to spot discrepancies or possible savings.

“When talking to residents of my district at their door, property taxes continuously come up as the biggest burden on homeowners,” said Hernandez. “There is no reason for taxpayers to be paying more than they are required to. The assessor’s office encourages homeowners to always look closely at their property bill to ensure that they are paying the correct amount. Residents should also check if they qualify for certain homestead exemptions, like the senior citizen exemption and disabled veteran exemptions.”

For more information on future events, please contact Hernandez’s constituent service at 630-270-1848.
