LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Mary Edly-Allen, D-Libertyville, recently toured Smalley Steel Ring Company in Lake Zurich to learn more about the leading global manufacturer of retaining ring and wave springs.

Rep. Edly-Allen met with Smalley COO George Nesbit and Barbara DiMonte from the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association to tour the facility and discuss the company’s future plans for expansion. Edly-Allen supported a number of initiatives during the spring legislative session aimed at supporting the manufacturing industry, including legislation she passed supported by manufacturing groups to require high school counselors to provide students with information on career and technical education opportunities that would lead to high-paying jobs in industries like manufacturing.

“Visiting local employers helps me to better understand how I can help support businesses and workers in my community,” said Edly-Allen. “Smalley represents the best of Lake County and makes it a point to hire local workers and treat their workers like family. I’m excited to work with Smalley and other local businesses to grow our economy and create high-paying jobs for local workers.”
