SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, recently met community members participating in her newly formed citizen advisory committees to discuss major issues facing the state, including our developing education system, the labor rights agenda and veterans wellness.

“I’m excited to work with devoted volunteers to tackle the issues in our community,” Hernandez said. “We have committees focused on improving education, securing labor rights, ensuring seniors have their voices heard, promoting social justice, meeting the needs of our veterans and addressing the concerns of the next generation.”

Hernandez will meet regularly with her advisory committees, which are organized around six issue areas: education, labor, seniors, social justice, veterans, and youth. Constituents will be able to work with Hernandez to address these topics and concentrate on what she can do in Springfield to better the community. All advisory committees are open to any member of the public.
