Connor Supports Measure to Expand Veterans’ Benefits to Include Military Families

LOCKPORT, Ill. – State Rep. John Connor, D-Lockport, is showing his support for military families by backing a bill that would expand military discounts to spouses and dependents of military personnel and veterans.

“While we can never show enough gratitude to the men and women who have served our country, benefits like this savings program help us show our appreciation and acknowledge their sacrifices,” Connor said. “Military families share in the sacrifices made by our service members, and it is important that we show our support for them as well.”

Connor’s Senate Bill 1486 expands the Veterans’ and Military Discount Program to include the spouse and dependents of Illinois veterans and military personnel who have been issued valid Military ID or Military Dependent ID cards. The Military Discount Program offers savings on a wide-range of products, including a $500 rebate on the purchase of a new Ford car or truck and discounts at stores such as Advanced Auto Parts, Old Navy and Nike.

“This program is just one small way that we can thank our veterans and service members and their families,” Connor said. “This legislation will help make it easier for military families to receive the benefits they deserve.”
