SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – A number of road repairs, park developments and new playground equipment will be funded under a major infrastructure improvement bill passed by state Rep. Thaddeus Jones, D-Calumet City, who worked hard to ensure his communities got the funding they deserved.

“Investing in our local roads and parks will make our community a better place to live and work, all while creating half a million jobs statewide,” Jones said. “This spring I passed a number of bills that will help build a stronger Illinois, and people will see the direct effects of this bill. The village of Monee needed a new water main. Dolton needed new fire hydrants. Playground equipment in Riverdale needed fixing. As a state representative, it’s my job to focus on directly helping the people of my district with local concerns as much as large-scale issues, and that’s what these improvements are all about.”

Jones secured money for numerous projects like this in the recent capital bill signed by Gov. Pritzker, which distributed billions in funding for districts throughout Illinois. Jones’s projects include general infrastructure improvements in Crete, South Holland, and Calumet City; water main replacements in Monee; maintenance equipment and fire hydrants in Dolton and new playground equipment for the Riverdale School District.

“It’s great to walk around Ford Heights, Calumet City, Glenwood and all the other communities I represent and see the areas which are getting much-needed funding as a result of this bill,” Jones said. “My promise to build a stronger Illinois is all about progress, and these improvements are a step in that direction.”
