ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Recognizing the sacrifices so many have given for us to celebrate Independence Day, state Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, is honoring and thanking our veterans and all men and women in uniform this Fourth of July.

“As we all enjoy the upcoming holiday, let’s not forget those who have helped ensure we can celebrate our 244th Independence Day,” Walker said. “Our troops and our veterans have defended the freedoms we enjoy. We owe it to them to keep all of our service men and women in our thoughts.”

This year, villages and cities in the 53rd district are offering many opportunities for residents to celebrate the Fourth of July and honor our veterans. Arlington Heights’ Frontier Days festival parade on July 4th is themed “Hats Off to America,” the 81st Annual Mount Prospect Lions Club Festival will run from July 3-7, and Prospect Heights’ parade will feature the seventh annual 4th of July Patriotic Bicycle Contest for kids.

“As a veteran, I’m looking forward to seeing expressions of patriotism throughout our district,” Walker added. “We have a lot to be proud of. Our country and our state stand above the rest, as do our service men and women. I thank them and their families for making our communities great and I’m looking forward to celebrating them this Independence Day.”
