AURORA, Ill. – In response to recent reports of possible deportation raids, state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, and U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville, hosted an immigration workshop and discussion panel to help local residents understand their rights.
“As the daughter of immigrants, I am committed to advocating for immigrant rights and providing a strong support system for families who feel vulnerable under Trump’s bigoted policies,” Hernandez said. “I’m very pleased that so many community members were able to come out to learn more about immigration law and ways in which they can be an ally to their neighbors. Together with all of the sponsors of this event, residents were able to learn more about what their rights are, how to help relatives with immigration processes, as well as information on permanent residency applications.”
Panelists included representatives from Family Focus, World Relief DuPage, Justice for Our Neighbors and the City of Aurora Human Relations Commission. For more information, please contact Hernandez’s constituent service office at 630-270-1848.
