SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, will host a panel on immigration with Congressman Bill Foster, D-11th District, in the East Aurora High School on Saturday, June 22, from noon to 3 p.m.

“Our broken immigration system and Donald Trump’s even more broken agenda are crucial issues immediately facing our state and our country, and we need to address these challenges with open discussion and decisive action,” Hernandez said. “We have a president who constantly says prejudiced things about immigrants, threatens people who have made their lives here and separates families who are simply looking for safety. This panel is just one of the many steps I plan to take to fight back against the Trump administration’s radical agenda against immigrants. I am thankful to Congressman Foster and the rest of the panel for standing with me on this.”

Hernandez and Foster will lead a public discussion on immigration and welcome Beatriz Rosa, an immigration program coordinator for Family Focus; and Susan Bachmeier, a senior immigration legal services specialist for World Relief in DuPage and Aurora. There will also be resource tables for Foster’s office, the United States Citizen and Immigration Services, Family Focus, World Relief, the City of Aurora Human Relations Commission and Justice for Our Neighbors. For more information call Hernandez’s office at 630-270-1848.
