ANTIOCH, Ill. – State Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, is hosting Read with your Rep. at the Antioch Public Library District located at 757 N. Main St. in Antioch on June 11 at 10:00 a.m.

“Reading is absolutely vital to children’s development, and it can also be a really enjoyable pastime,” said Mason. “I’ve always loved reading to my own children and to kids in the classroom, and I’ve chosen some of my favorite children’s books to read with them.”

Read with your Rep. will take place in the Eide Room of the Antioch Public Library District, and children of all ages are welcome to attend. Mason will be reading a selection of books including Duck for President, written by Doreen Cronin, which offers a light-hearted take on serving in an elected office, and Grace for President, by Kelly DiPucchio, which focuses on a young student who is inspired to take action after learning there has never been a female president of the United States. For additional information about the event, please contact Mason’s constituent service office by calling 847-485-9986 or emailing info@repjoycemason.com.

“Our children are our future, and when we help them develop strong literacy skills and a love for learning, we increase their chances for success,” said Mason. “I am grateful to all the teachers, family members and mentors that help instill the importance of reading in our children every day.”
