CALUMET CITY, Ill. – State Rep. Thaddeus Jones, D-Calumet City, will be hosting a workshop with local legal professionals to provide residents information on power of attorney, a process in which a person grants authority over their legal and financial matters to a caretaker, on Saturday, June 22 from 11am until 2pm at the Steger-South Chicago Heights Library, located at 54 E. 31st Street in Steger.

“It’s my priority to ensure people understand their rights, particularly local seniors and people with disabilities,” Jones said. “Understanding the implications power of attorney has will ensure people are equipped and able to detect when someone is seeking to take advantage of them.”

Jones’ event is free and open to the public. Local lawyers will be on hand to explain what power of attorney is, how to grant it to someone and when it is recommended to do so. Light refreshments will be served. For more information or to RSVP, please call 708-596-7053.
