SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, will serve as a co-chair of the Conference of Women Legislators (COWL), a position which enables her to advocate for and empower Illinois women through state initiatives.

“Illinois has one of the most gender-diverse state legislatures in the country, giving us a real opportunity to lead on issues that matter to women and families,” said Kifowit. “I have worked across the aisle to build a better future for all women in Illinois, and I look forward to continuing this work on the COWL executive committee.”

COWL is a bipartisan, bicameral non-profit organization that brings women lawmakers together to discuss significant issues. Through legislation and advocacy, COWL members work to advance the interests of women and families across Illinois. The organization also provides scholarships to non-traditional female students, mentoring to Girl Scouts and leadership training for college women entering careers in public service.

“Now more than ever, young women are looking to women leaders in their communities for guidance on how to make their voices heard,” said Kifowit. “COWL gives them a voice in Springfield, and I’m excited to be a part of the conversation.”
