ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, spoke to constituents about various environmental issues at an Environmental Town Hall held by Sierra Club Illinois. Yingling was joined by Lake County Board Chair Sandy Hart and Lake County Board Member John Wasik in answering questions from the community regarding topics such as ethylene oxide and transportation issues affecting the county.

“I appreciate everyone who took time out of their Saturday to come and make their voice heard about these important issues,” said Yingling. “Hearing what my constituents think about issues is incredibly important to me, and it helps inform my actions when I am down in Springfield.”

The main topic that Yingling discussed was ethylene oxide in his community. Yingling has led the fight against the use of ethylene oxide by co-sponsoring legislation to phase out the use of the dangerous chemical. Other topics included environmentally friendly transportation solutions in Lake County, as well as updates on the legislation to create the Clean Energy Jobs Act, which Yingling is a co-sponsor of.

“Seeing the amount of energy and passion that people have to protect the environment is invigorating,” said Yingling. “With the last few weeks of session coming up, I am ready to work day in and day out to keep our environment clean and healthy for all.”
