GURNEE, Ill. – Nearly a dozen community members convened with state Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, at her constituent services office on Monday for the first official meeting of Mason’s Senior Advisory Council.
“Our first meeting was all I could have hoped for. We had 10 residents attend, and each of them brought a unique perspective and background to the table,” said Mason. “It is very important to me to understand the issues facing all parts of my district, so I felt extremely fortunate to have such vibrant representation from every corner of the district at this meeting.”
Mason’s Senior Advisory Council is the first of many councils to launch over the coming months. Mason is continuing to accept applicants for her Environmental Advisory Council and her Youth Advisory Council and will announce the creation of additional councils over the coming weeks. To apply or learn more about Mason’s advisory councils, please contact her constituent service office at 847-485-9986 or email info@repjoycemason.com.
“Thanks to all the diverse experience brought to the table, our discussion covered a lot of substantial topics, including ageism, current legislation and property tax relief,” said Mason. “Going forward, I hope we will continue to add new members to the council. Any seniors interested in making a difference over a cup of coffee, please join us!”
