WHEELING, Ill. – Along with state
Sen. Ann Gillespie and many other area
volunteers, state Rep. Mark Walker, D-
Arlington Heights, recently attended a
Help USA Troops Packing Party event
and helped organize care packages to be
sent to active duty troops abroad.

“Help USA Troops is a fantastic
organization dedicated to sending a little
piece of home to our men and women in
uniform, letting them know we’re
thankful for their service,” Walker said.
“Packing care packages for our troops
overseas is a fun and rewarding way to
give back to those who have already
given so much.”

Since 2011, Help USA Troops has hosted
collection and packing drives to send care
packages to American men and women
serving abroad. At this year’s collection
drive on April 7, volunteers packed 1,200
boxes to ship to deployed troops. Help USA Troops was started not only to send packages; its
packing and sorting drives are done in honor of area veteran Lance Cpl. James Stack who was
killed in action on Nov. 10, 2010.

“As a veteran, I know how important care packages like these can be to our troops,” Walker said.
“Whether it’s sending boxes with messages of support or representing our veterans in
Springfield, recognizing our troops’ service should be a top priority.”
