DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is sharing important resources and information on preventing and stopping child abuse during April, which is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month.

“It is tragic that child abuse happens, and we must all do our part to stop it,” Moylan said. “Child abuse can take many forms, but any form of abuse or neglect is completely unacceptable. Children deserve homes that are loving and nurturing, and everyone has a responsibility to speak up if they suspect mistreatment.”

Moylan is a proud supporter of the organization Prevent Child Abuse Illinois in its mission to educate Illinoisans about child abuse and raise awareness of child abuse through a variety of informational events in April. A notable event is Pinwheels for Prevention, a reminder of the silent pain many abused children endure every day.

“Ending child abuse should be a universal goal,” Moylan said. “In our state, we have many organizations and groups working hard to stop child abuse and provide resources to survivors. Everyone is encouraged to reach out to these organizations to see how they can do their part in combating child abuse. Anyone suspecting abuse or neglect should call the state’s hotline”
