ZION, Ill. – To keep its shoreline safe and ready for summer, state Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, is asking community members to join her in cleaning up litter at Illinois Beach State Park, located at 1 Lake Front Dr. in Zion on Sunday, April 14 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Mason, who currently serves on the Energy and Environment committee, has enjoyed bringing her family to this state park for years.

“This stretch of shoreline has always been such a highly valued part of the Zion community,” said Mason. “I am looking forward to working with local residents to get this beach in pristine condition for the good of the community.”

Individuals interested in attending are invited to meet Mason and her staff in the parking lot north of the Illinois Beach Hotel and Conference Center before walking to the waterfront to collect trash. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided. For additional information, please contact Mason’s constituent service office at 847-485-9986 or email info@repjoycemason.com.

“I want to do everything I can to make sure residents and visitors have the same opportunity to enjoy this park with their friends or family as I have,” said Mason. “I hope this clean-up effort will contribute to a greater awareness of the variety of recreational activities and nature Illinois Beach State Park has to offer.”
