ROCKFORD, Ill. – Drawing on his background as the director of career development at Rockford University, state Rep. Maurice West II, D-Rockford, is encouraging residents with questions about how to create or update their resume to schedule an appointment with his office.

“Having a professional resume can be the difference between receiving an interview and not hearing back from a business that is hiring,” West said. “Whether you are writing your first resume or just want someone to take a look at what you have, I am encouraging residents to visit my office and speak to my experienced staff who have a background in career development.”

Residents can schedule a free appointment with West’s office by calling 815-987-7433, or by emailing Assistance@StateRepWest.com. West’s office is open Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the E.J. “Zeke” Giorgi Center, located at 200 S. Wyman St., Suite 304 in Rockford. It is recommended that residents bring their current resume if they have one.

“A resume is often the first impression that you give a potential employer,” West said. “By having a high quality resume, you can make yourself stand out and open doors to better opportunities.”
