SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Karina Villa, D-West Chicago, is calling on leaders in Washington and the Trump administration to roll back newly instituted changes to Title X that would jeopardize many women’s access to health services.

“Donald Trump is playing politics with women’s health care. Title X funding does not pay for abortion services, but rather helps to provide affordable birth control and reproductive health care for low-income women,” said Villa. “In addition to STD screenings and contraception, Planned Parenthood also provides essential services, like potentially lifesaving breast cancer screenings. Without funding for Title X, Planned Parenthood locations across the United States could close their doors for good.”

Villa is sponsoring House Resolution 204, which calls on the Trump administration to roll back this recent drastic change to Title X, which was instituted in an attempt to dismantle organizations like Planned Parenthood.

“Women’s health care should not be used as a pawn in Washington politicians’ extreme agendas and political games,” continued Villa. “I will continue to fight these dangerous policies, and work to ensure that all Illinois women have access to affordable health care.”
