SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Following her appointment to the Illinois House of Representatives, state Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora will serve on the following committees: Cities and Villages, Counties and Townships, Energy and Environment, Higher Education, and State Government Administration.

“Throughout the next two years, I look forward to learning and collaborating with my colleagues about how we can improve state and local government,” said Hernandez. “My experience on the Kane County Board has taught me how government can improve the lives of local families, but also how redundancies and red tape can burdens its citizens. I am ready to begin to work through our challenges so we can find lasting solutions to these problems.”

During the legislative process, each bill is assigned to a relevant committee, making committees one of the first steps in the lawmaking process.  While serving on these committees, Hernandez will prioritize legislation that will streamline local government, protect our environment, and improve the fiscal health of our institutions of higher education.

“I am excited and committed to work together with members of these committees to address the most pressing issues facing our community,” Hernandez said. “I am confident that if we work together we can implement important legislation that will benefit the health of our environment, improve higher education in Illinois and streamline our local governments.”
