BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – With Tax Day less than a month away, state Rep. Daniel Didech, D-Buffalo Grove, and state Rep. Jonathan Carroll, D-Northbrook, are partnering to host a tax relief seminar on Monday, March 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Alcott Center, located at 530 Bernard Dr. in Buffalo Grove.
“Filing taxes can be a daunting process. It can seem overwhelming if you’re doing it on your own, and overlooking a tax credit or exemption can have costly consequences,” Didech said. “We wanted to bring an expert into our community to give residents the chance to ask questions, and not feel like they have to go it alone.”
The seminar will feature a presentation from Carol Portman, president of the Taxpayers’ Federation of Illinois, on cost-saving tax credit and exemptions that may help residents keep more of what they earned. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this event to familiarize themselves with programs on the state and federal level to provide relief. The event is free and open to the public.
“There are a lot of companies that offer expensive tax help services, but not everyone has access to expert advice when filing their taxes,” Carroll said. “Representative Didech and I want to give people the chance to get advice from an expert without needing to pay for it. I encourage residents to take advantage of this opportunity.”
