SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, introduced a bill that would help create a process for state agencies to track vehicles that are no longer being used by their department.
“As state agencies continue to submit their requests for funding, being aware of resources available to each state agency will help us better appropriate funds to those in need,” said Pappas. “I will work with state agencies to create a process that keeps a thorough count of their vehicle surplus while encouraging government transparency.”
Pappas is the chief-sponsor of House Bill 3202 that would create a thorough process for state agencies to examine vehicles no longer in use and reassign them to the state as surplus. This measure will help ensure that state funds are appropriated accordingly to secure public services that are vital to many residents while also enacting good-government procedures.
“This legislation will take us a step forward to help ensure that we are protecting hard-earned tax dollars from being misspent,” said Pappas. “I look forward to finding other solutions to help create a more efficient government for residents across the state.”
