Moylan Introduces Bill to Create High Speed Rail Commission

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – To address the state’s outdated transportation infrastructure, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is introducing a bill to create the High Speed Railway Commission to oversee the implementation of a high-speed rail network.

 “It is clear that we need to enact reforms to rehabilitate our transportation infrastructure and usher it into the 21st century,” Moylan said. “To meet this goal, I am introducing legislation that would create the High Speed Railway Commission which would be tasked with modernizing our railway network and connecting Illinoisans far and wide.”

Moylan’s House Bill 3612, also known as the High Speed Railway Commission Act, would authorize the governor, legislative leaders in the House and Senate, and other relevant stakeholders to appoint members to the commission. Once it has been established and members have been appointed, the commission will begin discussing a statewide plan to facilitate high-speed rail travel from Chicago to St. Louis.
