LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Mary Edly-Allen, D-Libertyville, announced that her office will be hosting a youth art competition with the theme of ‘Protecting Our Planet’ in recognition of March’s Youth Art Month and April’s Earth Day.
“The theme of our contest, ‘Protecting Our Planet,’ will not only serve to support our children’s creativity, but give them the opportunity to learn more about why it is important to take care of the environment,” Edly-Allen said. “We have many talented young artists in our community and I look forward to seeing the works they produce.”
All students living in House District 51 who are currently enrolled in kindergarten through sixth grade are eligible to participate. The drawings will decorate the walls of Edly-Allen’s district office for the duration of the competition. The winning entry will be selected prior to Earth Day, April 22, and displayed in her office at the Illinois State Capitol.
Young artists (with the help and permission of their parent or guardian) are asked to mail or hand deliver 8.5” x 11” drawings that reflect the theme of ‘Protecting Our Planet’ during the months of March and April to:
