LOMBARD – To honor Women’s History Month, state Rep. Terra Costa Howard, D-Glen Ellyn, is hosting a Women’s Supply Drive to provide feminine care products to women served by Family Shelter Service and Teen Parent Connection.
“Low-income women face an ongoing struggle to obtain feminine care products,” Costa Howard said. “Tampons and pads are not covered by food stamps. When a girl in school or a working woman can’t afford to buy these necessary products, she can be forced to skip class or call in sick. No woman should have to make that choice. So to honor Women’s History Month, I’m asking residents of the 48th District to donate new, sealed boxes of tampons and maxi pads for Family Shelter Service and Teen Parent Connection to distribute to women in need.”
Donations of feminine hygiene products can be dropped off through the month of March at the following locations:
- Costa Howard’s constituent service office, 913 S. Main St. in Lombard
- Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- M & Em’s/Meredith Jaye, 460 N. Main St. in Glen Ellyn
- Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- The Collective lhe & Makery, 4724 N. Main St. in Lisle
- Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Family Shelter Service is truly grateful to Representative Costa Howard for including us in this client needs drive,” said Bridget Hatch, Marketing and Events Coordinator with Family Shelter Service. “Showing support, care and respect for victims of domestic abuse is our agency’s work. This drive is an incredible way to honor Women’s History Month!”
Family Shelter Service is a Wheaton-based non-profit organization that serves victims of domestic abuse. Teen Parent Connection is a Glen Ellyn-based nonprofit agency serving teen parents in DuPage County.
