BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. – Polish donuts, also known as Paczkis, accompanied discussion of the business of the 45th District on Saturday morning as state Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, held a community event.

“I’m glad to take time to share Paczkis and conversation with my constituents,” said Pappas. “Governing should be a collaborative process and I help my district best when I keep lines of communication open.”

Both the local community and elected officials were in attendance to voice concerns on subjects important for the area. Pappas is following through on a major promise of her campaign to bring transparency to her position. Open houses, coffees and community forums like these are becoming the norm, and they will continue to fill her schedule for the coming months.

“It’s crucial to be accessible and to talk to people directly,” Pappas said. “I think of events like these as an opportunity for an evaluation. Talking to someone, really hearing their feedback face-to-face, that’s how I can help constituents. We discussed many issues facing our community, and I am thankful for people taking the time out of their day to participate.”
