SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – In response to Governor Pritzker’s proposed budget, state Rep. Robyn Gabel, D-Evanston, released the following statement:

“After so many years of instability, Pritzker’s budget proposal is a good first step to putting Illinois on the right path forward.

“As the chair of the House Human Services Appropriations committee, I hear from service providers – and the people who rely on those services – on a daily basis. Families in our communities are suffering from budget cuts that have impacted human service agencies for years, but most especially when some organizations were forced to shut their doors or let go of staff during the budget crisis.

“This year, I believe a bipartisan discussion between the General Assembly and the Governor’s office will result in a balanced budget that will help the most vulnerable people in our communities get access to the services they need.”

Gabel represents the 18th District, which includes parts of Evanston, Glencoe, Glenview, Wilmette, Winnetka, Kenilworth, Northbrook and Northfield.
